Explore the World of Percussion
The percussion family offers a vast array of instruments, each with its unique sound and character. From the powerful drums to the delicate xylophone, there's a percussion instrument waiting to be discovered.
Pitched Percussion
Timpani: Tunable drums with a deep, resonant sound.
Xylophone: Wooden bars struck with mallets, producing a bright, clear tone.
Marimba: Similar to a xylophone but with larger bars and a deeper, richer sound.
Vibraphone: Metal bars with resonators that create a vibrato effect.
Glockenspiel: A smaller version of a xylophone with a higher pitch.
Unpitched Percussion
Snare drum: A drum with a metal snare wire across the bottom head, producing a sharp, crisp sound.
Bass drum: The largest drum in a typical drum set, producing a deep, low-pitched sound.
Tom-toms: Cylindrical drums with a wide range of pitches.
Cymbals: Flat metal discs that produce a clashing or shimmering sound when struck together.
Triangle: A small steel rod bent into a triangular shape, producing a high-pitched, ringing sound.
Tambourine: A handheld drum with metal discs around the edge.
Congas: Tall, narrow drums with a deep, resonant sound.
Bongos: A pair of small drums played together.
Bongo drums: Similar to bongos but larger and with a deeper sound.

We do all of our private percussion lessons in our studio located in Chantilly, VA. Our state-of-the-art facility provides a dedicated learning environment designed to foster a strong sense of community, access to top-tier equipment, and a focused learning atmosphere.
